New Designers–Top Sewing Shops: Online Platform to Match Work Orders
Discover and Nurture 30 Promising K-Fashion Brands⋯Support Through the Full Growth Cycle

Seoul City and South Korea’s largest fashion platform, Musinsa, have joined forces to cultivate the next generation of K-fashion brands and breathe new life into Dongdaemun’s sewing industry.
On the morning of the 5th, the city and Musinsa signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at Musinsa’s Seongsu-dong headquarters to promote collaborative growth across the fashion sector.
The agreement is designed to help Seoul sewing shops facing order shortfalls and emerging labels that need stronger branding.
The two organizations will build a one-stop order-matching platform in the first half of next year to connect designers with sewing shops. Designers will be able to search, consult, and place orders easily using the city’s database of 1,015 top sample, pattern, and sewing firms across Seoul.
Musinsa plans to promote the platform to the more than 10,000 brands on its site to scale up order matching. In a pilot, Musinsa commissioned Dongdaemun workshops to produce roughly 7,000 garments across seven of its in-house product lines, demonstrating the platform’s potential.
The city and Musinsa will select 30 promising emerging brands through an open call early next year and support them through the full cycle, from production to sales.
The city will help strengthen brands’ core capabilities by supporting domestic prototype production, offering consulting on overseas intellectual property filings, and producing lookbooks and promotional content. Musinsa will increase exposure and sales through curated online and offline sales events and homepage banner promotions on its platform.
The city will also run an on-site garment manufacturing coordinator for emerging brands based in Musinsa’s six studio locations, providing ongoing domestic production consultations and connecting them with leading pattern and sample experts.
Park Jun-mo, CEO of Musinsa, said, "If domestic brands meet skilled manufacturers and produce high-quality products, K-fashion’s quality and credibility will rise. We will step up efforts to foster win-win growth by discovering and supporting promising brands."
Joo Yong-tae, Seoul’s economic chief, said, "K-fashion’s competitiveness comes alive when designers’ creativity meets the precise craftsmanship of sewing artisans. We will continue to provide meaningful, practical support for the fashion and sewing industries."
