The Department of Fashion Design at Kyeongin Women's University recently hosted a Global Fashion Seminar, bringing in about 50 professors and students from Japan's Nagoya International Total Design College (NIFT).

On the 23rd, Kyeongin framed the program around sustainable development in the global fashion industry, featuring expert lectures, industry talks, student workshops, and an exhibition of student work.

The seminar also presented management case studies of global brands committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility, highlighted by a session on "Patagonia's Clothing Business Strategy to Revive the Planet."

Professor Hee-ryeong Kim delivered a keynote titled "K-Fashion's Global Growth Strategy," exploring the success factors and business strategies behind Korean fashion brands in international markets. After the lecture, students split into groups for workshops to discuss the ideas and sharpen their global sensibilities.

Department Head Hee-ryeong Kim said, "This seminar brought students from both countries together to tackle the major issues facing the global fashion industry and to broaden their perspectives. We will continue to support international collaboration programs so our students can grow into global fashion professionals with practical skills and a world-class outlook."

Meanwhile, Kyeongin Women's University's Department of Fashion Design continues to run practice-oriented, industry-collaboration programs—such as the capstone fashion show Gi-Mong (機夢) and a digital lookbook project—and is leading efforts to nurture creative designers who combine AI, ESG principles, and global fashion sensibilities.
