[Sports Today reporter Kim Tae-hyung] Rapper Swings pushed back on reports that he had been diagnosed with azoospermia.

He appeared on SBS’s talk show Wait, But Seriously!, which aired on the 9th.

On the program, he explained why he’d listed his weight as “72kg or 106kg,” saying, “My weight swings have been no joke.” (72 kg = 159 lb; 106 kg = 234 lb).

When cohost Lee Su-ji remarked that he looked heavier, Swings agreed and quipped that he wanted to adopt a fresh persona — joking that he was “South Korea’s first male idol with a body fat percentage over 27%.”

Swings said he once ran several gyms but closed all of them except one. When Lee Su-ji asked whether he would reveal his current weight or his assets, Swings replied, “I’m 100kg now” (100 kg = 220 lb).

He said he’s gone through roughly 30 yo-yo weight cycles. “Gaining 30 kg doesn’t take long — I ate tteokbokki every day — but it took about a year and a half to lose it. I can’t lose weight quickly. I know how to diet; I just can’t stick to it,” he admitted (30 kg = 66 lb).

Fellow guest Kai said he’d stuck to strict diets for just over a decade. “I could do it because I didn’t know there were so many delicious foods out there. Living on a diet, the best thing seemed like chicken — I literally didn’t know better. After my military service, I realized how many tasty things exist,” he joked, drawing laughs.

Kai added that he once bulked from 64 kg to about 68–69 kg (all muscle) and even reached 80 kg. “When I tried to dance for a comeback, I couldn’t move because I was too heavy, so I slimmed down,” he said (64 kg = 141 lb; 68–69 kg = 150–152 lb; 80 kg = 176 lb).

Swings addressed the vasectomy and reversal rumors directly. “About eight years ago I made a firm decision that I wouldn’t have kids, so I went to the hospital and had a vasectomy,” he said. “Then, two years ago, I suddenly wanted children. Not immediately, but maybe due to hormonal changes, kids started to seem adorable, so I had a reversal operation.”

He recalled an awkward moment during the reversal procedure: “At the hospital I had to lie in a very exposed position and lift my legs. I hoped the nurses would be men, but they were all women. Just before the surgery, a nurse said, ‘I’m a fan.’ I was in pain afterward, but I signed an autograph.” He later went to another clinic to check whether the reversal had worked.

At the next clinic, which was in a large office building, he said the restrooms were outside the facility. “I covered myself quickly in the bathroom because I was worried someone would recognize me,” he recalled.

After he briefly mentioned the episode on YouTube, outlets reported he had azoospermia and people teased him as a “seedless watermelon.” “I wanted to clear things up,” he said.

On the reversal’s results, Swings said one doctor initially found virtually no sperm — counting only eight sperm — and told him that amount wouldn’t lead to pregnancy, which crushed him. The doctor asked him to return in six months. He put it out of his mind for about a year, but when he visited another clinic two months ago they found a much higher count. “Now there are plenty,” he said, denying the azoospermia reports.
