A touching anecdote about Shin Dong-yeop surfaced.
In the March 30 episode of the YouTube series "Touching Brother Shin Dong-yeop," TV personality Sayuri and comedian Kim Kyung-wook joined hosts Shin Dong-yeop and Jung Ho-chul.
At the taping, Sayuri described why she felt grateful to Shin. "Before the recording, a female celebrity in the green room said some very harsh things to me. I stayed quiet, but Shin suddenly lost his temper. He thought her behavior toward me was unacceptable, so he called her out," she said.
Sayuri added, "Later, when I greeted him in the green room of another variety show, he couldn't let it go and said, 'I'll apologize on her behalf.' I thought, 'He's really a big person.'"
Hearing this, Shin Dong-yeop explained he had reacted out of shame and solidarity as a fellow Korean. "I want to name the person — it was truly disrespectful," he said candidly.
Sayuri concluded by saying she admires that he can't stand to see weaker people bullied, calling that quality admirable, and noted she relayed the story after having a drink.
