On March 16, tvN dropped the 1st teaser for its new entertainment program Gugidong Friends.
Gugidong Friends follows a group of same-age singles with distinctive personalities who have spent years living alone. The series strips away pretenses to document their frank, unfiltered experience of cohabitation. Through the Gugidong lives of Jang Do-yeon, Lee Da-hee, Choi Daniel, Jang Keun-suk, Ahn Jae-hyun, and Kyung Soo-jin, the show aims to reflect a generation sometimes described as “1.5 households”—people for whom marriage is not the only path—and to offer both recognition and solace by showcasing new, realistic forms of living together.
In the teaser, the cast members speak openly about why they, as longtime solo dwellers, chose to move in together. Lee Da-hee asks, “Is it really okay for me to live alone?” voicing her fears about loneliness. Choi Daniel describes the hush of an empty home, while Jang Do-yeon admits to a vague anxiety about what might happen if she were to get sick—moments that draw attention and empathy.
The footage also captures the unease of people accustomed to privacy confronting life with unfamiliar peers, offset by lively scenes as the 6 housemates bring the house to life. Choi Daniel’s sudden tears startle the others, and Jang Do-yeon, Lee Da-hee, and Kyung Soo-jin are shown in tears around the dining table, leaving viewers curious about what provoked such emotion.
There are high-energy beats too: the group breaks into joyful dancing, while cooler tensions simmer between Jang Keun-suk and Kyung Soo-jin, with Ahn Jae-hyun caught awkwardly in the middle. These contrasts promise dynamic episodes and chemistry that emerges from sharing everyday life.
Can Jang Do-yeon, Lee Da-hee, Choi Daniel, Jang Keun-suk, Ahn Jae-hyun, and Kyung Soo-jin reinvent themselves as a new kind of family? The series premieres April 10 at 8:35 p.m.
