[The Public=Reporter Oh Du-hwan] Seoul Dragon City, the sprawling hotel complex in Yongsan-gu, is flipping the switch on its rooftop early as summer approaches. With international travel getting pricier, more people are trading long-haul trips for stylish city getaways. The property is answering that demand by marketing Cabana City as an urban resort that pairs a pool with elevated dining and chill-out spaces.
Seoul Dragon City said it will soft-open Cabana City on the 15th. Perched on the topmost level of Sky Kingdom—the 34th floor—Cabana City is a seasonal summer venue that brings together a pool, food and beverage offerings, and lounge areas so guests can soak up a resort vibe without leaving the hotel.
Hotels have been paying close attention to the staycation trend. As airfares and on-the-ground costs climb, travelers are increasingly choosing short, concentrated breaks at nearby city hotels over long overseas trips.
Responding to that shift, Seoul Dragon City plans to operate the rooftop not merely as outdoor dining but as a full-fledged stay-oriented lifestyle destination.
The program is divided into three seasonal phases. The first, an early-summer period, runs from May 15 to June 18. During this window, Cabana City opens Wednesday through Saturday from 3:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., putting the spotlight on rooftop dining rather than swimming. The signature item is the Rooftop Chicken & Hops set—perfect with a cold beer and a skyline backdrop.
The main summer season runs from June 19 to August 23. Hours expand to daily operations from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the pool opens fully. Daytime offerings include a rooftop lunch set that comes with a welcome drink, while evenings bring poolside BBQ platters and a curated rooftop dining menu.
Late-summer service continues from August 24 to September 20. During this stretch, Cabana City operates Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Daytime dining mirrors the main-season packages, and evenings feature the Rooftop Chicken & Hops set. The pool remains available, extending that summer holiday feeling into September.
The venue is programmed by time of day to create distinct moods. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., it functions as a Day Lounge, with kids’ menus and lighter fare catering to families.
From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., it transitions to a Sunset Moment—an intimate window aimed at couples and small groups, centered on dinner sets and happy-hour deals. After 8 p.m., it becomes Rooftop Dining Hour, leaning into a DJ lounge, cocktails, and snack plates for adults who want to enjoy the night view.
A Seoul Dragon City spokesperson said, “Cabana City is a stay-oriented lifestyle space designed to bring the exotic mood of a summer resort into the city. We hope guests will enjoy Seoul’s beautiful scenery and captivating night views while savoring great food and much-needed relaxation.”
Seoul Dragon City is a complex of four Accor-affiliated hotels. With Cabana City, the group aims to draw not only overnight guests but also diners, event-goers, and families looking for a day out. As summer competition in the hotel industry shifts from discounting rooms to selling memorable experiences, the role of urban rooftop spaces looks set to grow.
