This Children's Day, May 5, Uiwang City is ready to welcome families to the 2026 Uiwang Children's Railway Festival at Wangsong Lake Park and the Railroad Museum.
The festival leans into its rail motif with hands-on activities and upbeat live performances that promise fun for all ages.
The city is using its rail infrastructure to deliver expert-led experiences. New booths from the Korea Railroad Research Institute and Hyundai Rotem will let visitors try out real railway technology, and Korail Distribution's Korea Train Mates shop will showcase a lineup of themed merchandise.
Korea National University of Transportation and the Railroad Museum are offering interactive AR, VR and simulator programs, turning visitors from observers into participants.
On the day of the festival, starting at 6:10 PM on the special stage at Wangsong Lake Park, five popular acts—Norazo, Kyungseo, Ryu Ji-gwang, DinDin and Song Ja-young—will bring high-energy sets. The city children's choir will kick things off earlier, and a spectacular fireworks show will close the night.
Shuttle buses will run for visitor convenience, and a temporary parking area for 830 cars will be available around the venue. That day, the Bird Ecology & Science Center will be open free of charge, and the Railroad Museum will offer free admission to visitors 18 and under.
An official from the city said, \"As the country's only designated railway special zone, we've put together a colorful lineup of sights and activities to inspire children's dreams and hopes. We hope families leave with happy memories.\"
Officials expect the festival to boost understanding and interest in railways while giving families a memorable, hands-on experience.
