Goyang Sono, facing elimination, staged a dramatic comeback against Busan KCC to keep its championship hopes alive.
On May 10 at Busan’s Sajik Gymnasium, Sono eked out an 81-80 win over the home team in Game 4 of the 2025-26 LG Electronics Pro Basketball Finals (best-of-seven) after a tense, back‑and‑forth battle.
With about two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Sono couldn’t contain Heo Hoon and fell behind 77-78. Shaun Long then extended KCC’s lead to two with a free throw.
The deficit looked daunting, but veteran guard Lee Jung-hyun answered. With 21 seconds left, he drilled a go‑ahead three to put Sono up 80-79. Heo tied the game from the line, and in the final seconds Lee drew a foul on Choi Jun‑yong at the rim and calmly sank one free throw to seal the win.
Regular-season MVP Lee finished with 22 points, including six 3-pointers. Sono, which had lost the first three games, notched its first Finals victory and cut the series to 1-3 — the franchise’s first-ever Finals win.
KCC, built around Heo Ung, Heo Hoon and Choi Jun‑yong and widely regarded as a "superteam," had hoped to clinch the title at home with a fourth straight win. Instead, Sono’s rally forced Game 5 to shift to Goyang (Game 5 is scheduled for the 13th at 7 p.m.). KCC still holds the upper hand: one more win in Games 5–7 will secure the championship.
The arena rocked to the tune of "Busan Seagull," a chant also associated with the Lotte Giants, as 11,336 fans packed Sajik — up from 10,998 in Game 3 — setting a new season attendance record for the KBL.
