This week, President Lee Jae-myung will host a luncheon with five small, non-parliamentary parties — the National Innovation Party, the Progressive Party, the New Reform Party, the Basic Income Party and the Social Democratic Party — along with independent members of the National Assembly.

Blue House senior spokesperson Kang Yu-jeong said in a written briefing on the 26th that the meeting is scheduled for the 29th. Exact time and venue will be announced separately.

At the luncheon, the president is expected to seek each party’s cooperation on key issues such as the June 3 local elections, balanced regional development and prosecutorial reform.

Earlier, on Jan. 16, President Lee met with parliamentary party leaders — including those from the Democratic Party of Korea — at the Blue House to request cooperation on government policy initiatives. The leadership of the People Power Party did not attend that meeting.
