[Sports Today reporter Jeong Ye‑won] Kim Hye‑yoon, who stars in Salmokji, said she is a long‑time fan of horror films and that her affection for the genre informed her performance.

On March 24, a press screening and media conference for the film Salmokji (director Lee Sang‑min; produced by The Lamp) were held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Yongsan‑gu, Seoul. Director Lee Sang‑min attended with actors Kim Hye‑yoon, Lee Jong‑won, Kim Jun‑han, Kim Young‑seong, Oh Dong‑min, Yoon Jae‑chan and Jang Da‑a.

Salmokji unfolds after an unidentified shape appears on the Salmokji road‑view footage. When the crew travels to the reservoir to reshoot, they encounter something lurking in the black, bottomless water. The film is Lee Sang‑min’s first solo feature following shorts such as Hamjinabi and Dollimgong.

Kim Hye‑yoon plays Su‑in, a producer at the road‑view service company Onroad Media who goes to Salmokji for the reshoot. She said she stayed excited throughout the shoot because of her love for horror. \"The script was strong, and Su‑in was a part I really wanted to play,\" she said, adding that she expected the role to be an important step in her career. She described Su‑in as someone who clings to rationality more tightly than others, and said she focused on facial expressions and eye work to convey fear.

She also recalled that shooting at the reservoir at night made the water look truly black. From the boat, seeing branches rise from the water felt eerie and desolate, she said.

Meanwhile, Salmokji opens on April 8.
