[SPOTV News reporter Kim Won-gyeom] Veteran actress Sung Byung-sook has joined the cast of KBS1’s daily drama Our Happy Good Day.
Sung plays Park Soon-bun in Our Happy Good Day, which premiered on the 30th of last month. Written by Nam Sun-hye and directed by Lee Jae-sang, the series is a multi-generational melodrama about people competing to be the protagonists of their own lives, set against a high-stakes standoff between an ostensibly perfect man and a lovable klutz.
Park Soon-bun has spent the past 20 years raising her granddaughter Ham Chorong (Um Hye-su) in place of her daughter. She bickers with Chorong like a close friend, bringing energy to the story, and her fierce, selfless devotion—she’ll do anything for Chorong—is poised to resonate strongly with viewers.
A versatile veteran across voice work, television, film and theater, Sung has appeared in notable projects including The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch, Misaeng, My Love from the Star, Wonderland and Seonjae Upgo Ttui-eo. Known for her subtle, naturalistic performances, she’s expected to deliver an unmistakable presence in Our Happy Good Day.
KBS1’s daily drama Our Happy Good Day, featuring Sung in the cast, airs weekdays at 8:30 p.m. (KST).
