[Herald Economy=Reporter Son Mi-jung] A tally of 2024 viewership shows that among terrestrial broadcasters the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) held the largest audience share, while among comprehensive programming channels (종편PP) and news-specialized channels (보도PP) TV Chosun (Chosun Broadcasting Co., Ltd.) recorded the highest share.The Broadcasting, Media and Communications Commission announced the results at its third plenary meeting of 2026, held on the 20th. The figures cover 166 broadcasters that operate 285 channels with annual viewing records.
Audience share represents the portion of total television viewing time captured by a specific channel.
Among terrestrial broadcasters, the shares were: Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) 20.862%, Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) 10.978%, SBS Co., Ltd. 7.550%, and Educational Broadcasting System (EBS) 1.859%.
For comprehensive programming and news-specialized channels, the shares were: TV Chosun (Chosun Broadcasting Co., Ltd.) 7.441%, JTBC Co., Ltd. 6.145%, Channel A Co., Ltd. 4.877%, Maeil Broadcasting Network (MBN) 4.754%, YTN Co., Ltd. 3.459%, and Yonhap News TV Co., Ltd. 3.285%.
Among major program providers (PP) and satellite broadcasters, CJ ENM Co., Ltd. posted 11.092%, followed by KT Skylife Co., Ltd. at 3.687%.
Meanwhile, the media-exchange rate — the relative influence of daily newspapers compared with television, with TV set to 1 — was 0.48 for 2024.
