On May 7, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority launched the third IFEZ Global Press Corps at the G-Tower Global Business Center in Songdo, kicking off a renewed effort to promote the Incheon Free Economic Zone internationally.
Members were selected through an open recruitment that ran for about a month starting in March. Sixty-five people applied — the largest turnout to date.
After screening, 10 members were chosen to serve: five foreign nationals and five Korean citizens.
The foreign members come from the United States, Taiwan, Vietnam and Mongolia. Selection prioritized social media reach, content-production skills, language ability and whether applicants live in or study in Incheon.
The launch ceremony included an oath, an orientation and networking activities for the members.
Following the event, participants toured the IFEZ exhibition hall, explored the Central Park area and took a water taxi, among other on-site programs.
The press corps will remain active through December, using personal social channels — Instagram, YouTube, blogs and Facebook — to introduce IFEZ’s investment environment, culture, tourist attractions and major events to both domestic and international audiences.
They also plan to produce content in their native languages to amplify global outreach.
Since its launch in 2024, the IFEZ Global Press Corps has grown in both scale and influence each year.
The first cohort produced 55 pieces of content that reached more than 80,000 social media users, and the second cohort delivered IFEZ news to over 100,000 followers through 48 pieces of content.
Bae Mi-kyung, head of the media and culture division at the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, said, “The global press corps plays a vital role in vividly conveying IFEZ’s many facets to overseas audiences,” and added, “We expect this year’s activities to broadly showcase the attractions of Songdo, Yeongjong and Cheongna.”
