About 1,000 Employees Have Volunteered Over Four Years
[Herald Economy = Reporter Kwon Je-in] Korea & Company Group announced that it held a family-friendly mural-painting volunteer event on the 25th.Since 2022, Korea & Company Group has run biannual, family-oriented mural projects to support local neighborhoods and brighten up schools and community spaces. Now in its fifth year, the initiative kicked off on the 25th and will continue with two more sessions in May and October, with roughly 450 employees and family members expected to participate.
The volunteer efforts took place simultaneously at Seongnambuk Elementary School in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province — where the group’s headquarters and key affiliate sites are located — and at the Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital. Over the past four years, about 1,000 employees and family members from Korea & Company have painted murals at 15 schools and social-welfare organizations across the Seoul metro area and Daejeon.
To mark the project’s fifth year, the group not only painted a mural at the Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital but also donated musical instruments for hospitalized service members. The instrument sets — including drums, bass, electric guitars, and acoustic guitars — are intended to offer emotional respite and psychological comfort to troops facing long-term hospitalization or treatment.
The mural concepts were developed in collaboration with professional mural artists. At Seongnambuk Elementary, artists created lively illustrations of sports and leisure activities to symbolize a healthy school environment. At the Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital, the design blends local landmarks like Daejeon’s Hanbit Tower and Expo Bridge with vibrant natural scenery meant to support the soldiers’ healing.
A company spokesperson said the volunteer work and donations have helped deepen ties with the local community. They added that mural painting is especially meaningful because it’s an activity employees and their families can enjoy together, and that the group will keep developing programs that improve residents’ quality of life.
