On the afternoon of May 8, the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci were held at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul. The three hosts—Shin Dong-yup, Suzy, and Park Bo-gum—co‑anchored the ceremony for the eighth consecutive year.
That day, the Best Musical prize went to the production 'Mongyudowon.'
ACOM producer Yoon Hong-sun thanked original author Choi In-ho and said, "Mongyudowon is preparing to reach audiences around the world. Please cheer on its brilliant journey."
Then general director Yoon Ho-jin added, "From the earliest stages of preparation, we thought about taking the show global. We focused a great deal on its universal appeal. With a planned Broadway run in 2028, we'll work even harder to refine the production."
This year, the Baeksang Arts Awards introduced a musical category to mark the 60th anniversary of Korean musical theater. The addition brings broadcasting, film, theater, and musical theater together under a single awards program.
