Hankook & Company Group is staging an in-house racing tournament to strengthen employee communication.

Hankook & Company Group announced on April 22 that the tournament will run through May 6.

The event was designed to promote horizontal communication and spread a culture of creativity under the company's signature "Proactive Culture," a concept emphasized by Chairman Cho Hyun-bum. The company says Proactive Culture creates fertile ground for growth by driving innovation and creativity so employees can reach their full potential.

The tournament uses driving simulators installed in the first-floor lobby of the group's Pangyo headquarters, TechnoPlex, and follows a lap-time format. The group launched the event last year.

This year, organizers upgraded the format from individual races to team competition: employees will compete in three-person teams, inviting colleagues they want to get to know better and putting the companywide campaign "Better Together" into practice.

Preliminaries run through April 28, with a 10-team final scheduled for May 6. Participants can choose one of two track layouts.

The winning team will receive tickets to Driving Day, an event for group employees. Driving Day invites employees and their families to Korea Technoring, Asia's largest tire test track in Taean County, South Chungcheong Province, where attendees can drive high-performance cars and experience advanced automotive technologies firsthand.

A company official said, "This program gives colleagues who usually communicate only about work a chance to enjoy friendly competition through racing games, make memories and strengthen the value of communication and collaboration."
