[Point Economy] KB Kookmin Card announced on March 10 that it’s launching a cherry-blossom season promotion for Japan, offering a mix of booking discounts and on-the-ground rewards to make travel planning and spending more rewarding.

KB Kookmin UnionPay credit and debit cardholders (excluding corporate and BC cards) can get a 15% instant discount at physical stores in Japan when they spend at least ¥10,000 (about $63) per transaction. The discount is capped at ¥2,000 (about $13) per use and can be applied up to five times per card. The offer runs through May 13. Customers must pre-register on the KB Pay event page, and additional coupons for major Japanese retailers like Don Quijote and Bic Camera are also available.
KB Kookmin Mastercard credit and debit cardholders (excluding corporate, BC, and Maestro cards) can take advantage of hotel and shopping deals across Japan. Through KB Pay event pages—“Rakuten Travel up to 20% instant discount” and “Japan cherry-blossom trip hotel bookings on Klook up to 28% off”—users can download discount coupons valid through March 31. Also, customers who enter the promotion and spend ¥15,000 (about $95) or more at Don Quijote in Japan by March 31 will receive a ¥2,000 (about $13) payback in foreign-currency credit.
The MTR (Mastercard Travel Reward) service is available for KB Kookmin Travelers Check cardholders with Mastercard branding through March 31. After registering and activating the service, cardholders can earn extra cashback at stores including Bic Camera, Don Quijote, and Hankyu/Hanshin department stores.
The “Again! Overseas Spending Up to 1,000,000 Pointree” promotion runs through the 22nd. After entering the event, customers who spend at least 300,000 KRW (about $201) at overseas online or offline merchants can earn up to 1,000,000 Pointree points, depending on their spending tier.
A KB Kookmin Card spokesperson said, “We put together this promotion so customers planning trips to Japan can enjoy real benefits both when booking and while spending locally.”
