Spring flower festival blooms for three days starting May 15 — 60 million flowers, including peonies

Spring Ulsan City announced on May 12 that the 2026 Taehwagang National Garden Spring Flower Festival will take place across the Taehwagang National Garden from May 15 through May 17.

Under the theme "Taehwagang National Garden: Walking into Spring," the festival is designed as a stay-style tourism event so visitors can relax and enjoy spring blooms in an urban green space. Organizers hope the festival will boost Ulsan’s profile as a garden city and build excitement ahead of the 2028 Ulsan International Garden Expo.

In a 28,000 m² (about 7 acres) flowerbed, roughly 60 million spring blossoms — including poppies, cornflowers, baby’s breath, marigolds and peonies — will be in full bloom, creating a vivid seasonal display. On opening day, May 15, pre-event activities and an opening ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. on a special stage at Wangbeodeul Plaza. Throughout the festival, busking, local cultural and arts performances, children’s magic shows and musicals will entertain visitors of all ages.

The lineup also includes hands-on and wellness programs. Families can join Create-a-Family Garden, throw EM (effective microorganisms) soil balls, try on butterfly costumes, or take part in a New Gardener competition. For quieter moments, guests can attend garden yoga or relax in the Tea and Book Lounge. A flower-and-flea market, a 360-degree roaming camera, and a spring flower mini train add extra festival fun.

At night, string lights and landscape lighting will light up the flower gardens and the Zelkova Tree Path, offering a romantic nightscape that contrasts beautifully with the daytime view.

Ulsan City expects that expanding nighttime attractions will encourage visitors to stay longer, boost local businesses, and help cement Taehwagang National Garden as one of the country’s top garden-tourism destinations.
