Daejeon City is unveiling a new tourism program that weaves together nature, history and culture into immersive guided tours for locals and visitors.
From March through November, the city will run the 2026 Daejeon Story Tour 50 times. This year’s lineup spans 11 routes across three categories: 16 dawn tours, 7 night tours and 27 themed tours. The program will welcome 1,100 participants, and the fee is 10,000 KRW (approximately $7.50).
Start times this year are more varied—5:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., among others. The city is also improving accessibility by adding downtown departure points, such as Daejeon Station and the area near Seongsimdang, instead of concentrating departures only at Daejeon City Hall Station Exit 1.
New interactive elements will be added to historical storytelling, including props, actions and scripted lines, and the city will host citizen-driven events like route-design contests and review competitions. For eco-friendly operations, the program will promote plogging, encourage reusable tumblers and use online surveys.
Dawn tours highlight Daejeon’s waterways and sunrise spots—Gapcheon, Yudeungcheon, Daecheong Lake and the Geum River—inviting participants to experience the city’s nature and neighborhood stories in a quiet, dawn-lit setting.
Night tours introduce fresh options like the Bomunsan Observatory Tour and showcase nighttime favorites such as the sunset at Yasil Village, late firefly displays, the Hanbit Tower musical fountain and media façade shows.
Themed tours are grouped into neighborhood, history and custom trips, offering everything from historical routes to trekking and local food-and-bakery excursions.
You can register online or by phone. For detailed schedules and route information, visit the Daejeon Story Tour’s official booking channel.
Park Seung-won, director of the city’s Culture, Arts and Tourism Bureau, said, “We designed the 2026 Daejeon Story Tour to help residents and visitors rediscover the city by weaving stories into its nature, history and culture. By capturing the mood of dawn, the allure of the night and the stories of neighborhoods and people, we aim to deliver travel experiences that linger long after the trip ends.”
