[iNews24 Reporter Han Seung-yeop] Jindo County, in South Jeolla Province, will host the 2026 Bobae Island Canola Flower Festival on and around Gwanmaedo in Jodo-myeon from April 9–12.

The festival centers on a vast canola field spanning about 75,000 pyeong (roughly 61 acres). The opening ceremony kicks off at 2:30 p.m. on April 9 and will include a pre-show from the Jindo County Folk Arts Troupe, guest singers, and a variety of performances meant to give visitors a memorable island experience.

Expect a lively lineup during the festival, including line dancing, Zumba, and traditional Korean performances like Arirak. There will also be hands-on activities—calligraphy and brush-painting workshops, a mini train, and traditional games—perfect for families. Special programs such as the 'Canola Flower Road' community walk and a guided Gwanmaedo trail forest tour offer up-close encounters with the island's pristine nature.

To make getting around easier, the county will run a shuttle bus between the festival grounds and Gwanmae Port, and the on-site mini train will be available with a single pass priced at 1,000 KRW (about $0.75). Direct ferry service between Jindo Port and Gwanmaedo began in April, and service will be increased to six passenger trips a day during the festival to significantly improve access.

After the festival, the county will keep the island welcoming during peak bloom with an eight-day \"Outing Period\" from April 13–20. Photo zones, portable toilets, and rest areas will remain open so visitors can continue to enjoy Gwanmaedo comfortably.

Kim Hee-su, mayor of Jindo County, said, \"We hope visitors create precious spring memories amid Gwanmaedo's beautiful scenery and its fields of golden canola. We will do our best to ensure a safe and enjoyable festival where residents and tourists can come together.\"
