Song Si-hyun Dream, the project band led by composer Song Si-hyun and best known for \"I'll Always Love You,\" will release a new song. To mark the anniversary of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement, Song Si-hyun Dream will release a commemorative track, \"Child of May,\" at noon on the 7th across major streaming platforms.
\"Child of May\" is rooted in a family's experience during the 1980 Gwangju uprising. The song traces a son's painful coming-of-age and his determined resolve, using music to tell that story. It is the project's second release, following April's \"A Dreamlike World.\"
Song's team said the piece opens with a single voice, expands to two and three voices, and ultimately swells into a larger chorus—an intentional arc meant to vow that the memory of that day will not be forgotten.
Song Si-hyun wrote the lyrics and composed the track, while Park In-hwan handled the arrangement.
Song debuted in 1986 at the Gangbyeon Song Festival. He wrote and composed several songs for singer Lee Sun-hee, including \"I'll Always Love You,\" \"Turning the Pages of Memory,\" and \"Winter Melancholy.\" He has also contributed to OSTs for films such as \"The Record of Exorcism,\" \"Youth,\" and \"Glory of the Family,\" as well as the drama \"New Generation Report: Adults Don't Know.\"
