Kim Ba-da's Hero Rock Festival Performance Canceled: What Happened?

[TV Daily reporter Kim Jin-seok] Kim Bada, the longtime frontman of rock band Sinawe, was arrested on suspicion of smoking marijuana, and festival organizers have pulled him from an upcoming lineup.

On the 10th, Hero Rock Festival released a statement saying Kim Bada, who had been scheduled to perform on April 26, will regrettably not appear due to the artist’s circumstances. The festival asked for attendees’ understanding and advised ticket holders to take the change into account when planning their visit.

The organizers added that, following media reports about Kim Bada, they maintained regular contact with his agency. The agency requested time to verify the facts and later informed the festival that he would be unable to perform. The organizers apologized for the delay in making the announcement.

Kim Bada was listed on the lineup for the second day of the Hero Rock Festival in Mapo District, Seoul, which runs April 25–26.

Police say he was arrested on the evening of the 8th in Sokcho on charges of possessing and smoking marijuana. Authorities reportedly found marijuana at the scene, and Kim is said to have admitted the allegations during questioning.

Kim joined Sinawe as the band’s fifth vocalist in 1996. He left in 1999 and has since fronted or performed with a number of groups, including Nabi Effect, Raycios, Art of Parties, and BAADA.
