[Goesan] The Goesan Cultural Center (Director Kim Chun-su) said it held the inaugural ceremony for the "Nature Resonance Goesan Orchestra" in the center's main conference room on the 22nd.
About 100 people attended the event organized by the Goesan Cultural Center, including Goesan County Governor Song In-heon, Director Kim Chun-su and orchestra members, to celebrate the group's new start.
The program included a progress report, a welcome address, congratulatory remarks and a celebratory string quartet performance by the instructors.
The Goesan Cultural Center recruited orchestra members as part of the "2026 Culture in Every Corner Day" initiative.
The Goesan Orchestra is made up of 57 local residents who play string, woodwind and brass instruments under conductor Lee Won-hee and seven professional instructors. The ensemble will begin full instrument and ensemble rehearsals in April and plans to present a performance showcasing its work in December.
Organizers said the membership spans a wide age range—from people in their 20s to seniors in their 70s—and they expect the group to produce music that resonates across generations.
Director Kim Chun-su said, "The Goesan Orchestra is a program that brings together residents of Goesan, a region facing population decline and limited cultural resources, through classical music. I hope recent rural settlers and longtime residents, from young adults to the elderly, will communicate and unite through music."
Goesan County Governor Song In-heon added, "I sincerely congratulate the Nature Resonance Orchestra on its energetic first step. I hope the members rehearse together, raise Goesan's cultural pride and grow into a group that strengthens community bonds."
