Discover the Enchanting Violin Recital by Im Chang-ho: A Journey from Romanticism to Modern Music

Translation result.Violinist [Herald Economy=Reporter Shin So-yeon] Violinist Lim Chang-ho will present a solo recital on the 10th at the IBK Chamber Hall in the Seoul Arts Center in Seocho District, Seoul.

Presented by Yein Arts Planning with support from the Juilliard alumni association, the concert runs about 90 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission. Pianist Park Jin-woo will join Lim onstage.

The program spans Romantic and early 20th-century repertoire, with works by Paul Hindemith, Johannes Brahms, Franz Schubert and Maurice Ravel. Lim will open with Hindemith’s Violin Sonata No. 1, followed by Brahms’s Violin Sonata No. 3, Schubert’s Rondo in B minor and Ravel’s Tzigane.

Lim trained at Seoul Arts High School before earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at The Juilliard School. He went on to study at the Manhattan School of Music and Rutgers University in New Jersey, where he completed his doctorate. He made his U.S. debut with the New York Symphonietta and has since performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the United Nations in New York and the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

In South Korea, Lim made his domestic debut in collaborations with the National Symphony at the Kumho Young Artists Concert and the Seoul Arts Center year-end concert. He has won or placed in competitions such as the Ewha, Kyunghyang, JoongAng Ilbo, Kookmin Ilbo and Seoul Symphony contests. He currently teaches at Seoul National University, the Korea National University of Arts and Ewha Womans University, and performs with the Going Home Project Orchestra.
