Daegu Technopark (Daegu TP) said on the 10th that it has appointed Kwang‑heum Baek (52) as director of its Robotics and Mobility Industry Division following an open recruitment process. Baek was chosen after document screening and interviews and will assume the role on the 11th. His term is 3 years.

Baek holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial chemistry from Kyungpook National University and a master’s in chemistry from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). He brings roughly 27 years of industry R&D experience across the display, materials and electronics sectors.

He joined LG Electronics’ display division in 1998, where he worked on OLED panel and process development. At Heesung Electronics and Hana IT, he served as a lead researcher and research center director, directing new-business initiatives and overseeing end-to-end R&D.

From 2008 to 2011, Baek worked in Daegu TP’s corporate support unit, planning and executing business support programs including the Next-Generation Leading Technology Development Support Project. Officials say that experience gives him strong insight into the regional industrial ecosystem and the foundation’s operations.

Baek said he plans to strengthen the competitiveness of the regional robotics and mobility industry by advancing AI convergence technologies and building a business‑friendly support ecosystem. “We will deliver tangible results to help local companies secure competitiveness in global markets,” he said.
