Iran Backs a Peaceful Resolution to the Conflict…Sees the U.S. as the Primary Obstacle
Presented Clear Demands in Geneva…Moztaba Khamenei Directing Wartime Operations

In an interview with Italy’s ANSA news agency, Saburi said Iran has consistently supported resolving conflicts through peaceful means. He added that last month’s unexpected U.S. strike during negotiations increased mistrust and criticized Washington for failing to respect diplomatic norms and international law.
“We presented Iran’s demands clearly during last month’s talks in Geneva,” he said. “The U.S. should have no difficulty understanding Iran’s position.” Saburi also said Ayatollah Moztaba Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, is directing wartime operations inside the country and has avoided public appearances for security reasons.
The U.S. has pressed Iran daily for an agreement and warned it could carry out stronger strikes. Washington has even signaled the possibility of deploying ground forces and has repositioned troops. Iran, meanwhile, has strengthened ties with anti‑U.S. and anti‑Israel armed groups and has signaled a willingness to engage in a prolonged conflict.
