Rapper Swings denied rumors that he has azoospermia during a national variety show appearance.
On the 9th, appearing as a guest on SBS's No, But Really!, Swings responded after host Tak Jae-hoon quipped that \"he's good at everything, but he has no sperm,\" then calmly laid out the facts.
He said that about eight years ago he made a firm decision: he would not father children. He went to the hospital and had a vasectomy. That period coincided with his public relationship with actress Im Bora.
Swings explained that he embraced a non-marriage lifestyle and had the procedure. His surgeon warned him that even if he later underwent reversal surgery, his chances of conceiving could decline year by year.
He said his mind changed two years ago. \"I suddenly wanted a child—not to start a family immediately, but kids just started to seem adorable to me,\" he said, adding that he wasn't sure whether it was hormones. He then had the reversal surgery.
He spoke candidly about the experience: right before the operation, female nurses approached him saying they were fans, which embarrassed him; afterward, still in pain, they even asked for his autograph. When he went to another clinic to check the results, he had to use a public restroom and hid his face in the hallway for fear of being recognized — an episode he shared to laughter.
Recalling the test results, Swings said the doctor initially counted and reacted, \"Huh? One? Eight?\" — indicating a count far too low to achieve pregnancy. He said it broke his heart and he put it out of his mind for a year. Then, two months ago, a different hospital reported a much higher count, and he proudly said he now has plenty.
Swings also explained how the azoospermia rumor began. He said he briefly mentioned the story on another YouTube channel, and media outlets spun it into headlines claiming he had azoospermia — \"like a seedless watermelon.\" He said he wanted to clear up the record on the show.
The rumor traces back to a short video he posted on his YouTube channel last December that briefly mentioned his vasectomy and reversal. Because the clip omitted the surrounding context, a false report that he had azoospermia circulated.
Born in 1986, Swings debuted in 2008 with the EP Upgrade and rose to wider recognition after finishing third on Mnet's Show Me the Money 2. He has worked as a rapper, producer and entrepreneur, and recently branched into acting. He plays \"King Kong,\" a high school classmate of Byun Yo-han and Noh Jae-won, in the upcoming film Tazza 4: Belzebub's Song, due this year.
