Jang Hang-jun’s runaway hit The Man Who Lives with the King has crossed 12 million admissions at the South Korean box office.

On March 11, distributor Showbox confirmed the film surpassed the 12 million mark that afternoon. Released on Feb. 4, the picture reached 10 million admissions on March 6 — its 31st day in release — and hit 12 million on its 36th day.

The film has overtaken this year’s previous leader, Pamyo (11.91 million admissions), and has moved into the top 20 on Korea’s all-time domestic box office chart.

Set in Cheongnyeongpo in 1457, The Man Who Lives with the King follows the young, deposed monarch Danjong after his exile and the residents of Gwangcheon-gol who take him in. Directed by Jang Hang-jun, the film stars Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae and Jeon Mi-do.
