LF Mall: Searches for 'long coats' and 'short puffers' spike 170% and 48%, respectively

Lifestyle company LF said on the 25th that this winter's outerwear scene has polarized around two looks — long coats and short puffers — and that both search interest and sales have climbed quickly.
Coats are leaning into longer, silhouette-defining cuts, while puffers are trending short, light, and playful.
LF Mall reports that from the 1st to the 24th of last month, searches for 'long coat' jumped 170% year-over-year. This year the search term 'maxi long coat' surfaced for the first time.
Searches for 'short puffer' rose 48% over the same period, suggesting shoppers preparing for winter are zeroing in on these two styles.
LF attributes the shift to the rise of purposeful spending. Coats are being designed as silhouette-focused, dressier outerwear, while puffers prioritize lightweight convenience and casual comfort — each category doubling down on its core strengths.
According to LF, premium labels are leaning into tailored long coats and pushing lengths to new extremes, while casual and sports brands are expanding their short-puffer lines with lighter fabrics and a streetwise edge to respond to changing demand.
