How Digital Fashion Training Is Supercharging Students' Skills and Career Vision

On the 19th of last month, the Fashion Design Department at WISEU Youngsan University (President Bu Gu-uk) successfully held the Busan RISE project's \"Regional Talent Retention Training Course — Meta Fashion Playground–linked extracurricular program\" at the Busan Textile Fashion Industry Association's Fashion Biz Center.
The program gave students hands-on exposure to digital transformation (DX) technologies shaping the global AI era. Participants visited the Busan Fashion Biz Center — a central hub of the city's fashion infrastructure — where they tested next-generation fashion-tech tools and platforms.
To help students rapidly build skills across a range of digital fashion tools, they toured the Meta Fashion Playground's first-floor experience zone. There they tried 3D virtual garment showcases, virtual clothing, digital textiles, and AR fitting tech. The visit offered a clear, practical look at where the fashion industry is headed.
Students also observed how AI-generated graphic design works together with DTG (Direct-To-Garment) printing to create custom T-shirts. That session made it easy to see how new business models and tech will power the era of small-batch, multi-style production.
Finally, they joined training on the third-floor virtual showroom, learning how to use 3D design software to display products in immersive virtual spaces. The module explored fresh presentation formats for the Metaverse era and helped the students build forward-looking skills.
One student who took part said, \"Experiencing metaverse fashion with real industry tech — instead of only studying it in class — gave me a concrete vision for my career.\"
Professor Kim Ji-hyung from the Fashion Design Department called the program \"a model case that leverages Busan's fashion industry infrastructure to give students hands-on training.\" He added, \"We'll keep working closely with local companies so graduates can grow into global fashion professionals based in Busan.\"
