On the 25th, Musinsa said it completed a full audit of material blend claims for 7,968 down and cashmere items sold by brands on its marketplace—roughly 100 days after announcing the checks under its safety trading policy in December.
For 4,577 of those items—about 57.4%—Musinsa confirmed authentic test reports from accredited laboratories. The company had originally planned to accept reports only through December 2024 but extended the deadline to January 31 amid concerns about testing centers becoming overwhelmed.
For the roughly 43% of items that didn’t submit reports, Musinsa bought samples directly and sent them to accredited labs for testing. Among those, about 20% were found to have violated the platform’s ban on false or exaggerated advertising. Across the full inspection, approximately 8.5% of items showed incorrect down or cashmere blend labeling.
As a result, Musinsa suspended all product sales from brands that breached the safety trading policy for periods ranging from five to 35 days. It announced the sanctions via pop-up notices in its official newsroom and on individual brand shop pages across the Musinsa and 29CM platforms, and ran a home-screen banner on its mobile app for about a month in February.
A Musinsa representative said, “We disclosed the issues transparently and promptly so customers can continue to trust Musinsa,” and added that stakeholders across Korea’s fashion industry are working earnestly to rebuild that trust.
