The association said it held a launch ceremony at Seoul’s DDP Fashion Mall in Dongdaemun and unveiled four missions to guide a sustainable AI transition for the sector. The Fashion AI Alliance brings together brands, manufacturers, retailers, logistics firms and fashion‑tech experts in an industry‑wide collaborative council.
The alliance’s four missions are to: build an ecosystem that encourages collaboration among tech companies, fashion firms and academia; boost practical AI skills for designers, merchandisers, production managers and marketers; pilot real‑world AI business models and standardize successful case studies; and develop guidelines and policy reforms by connecting industry data use with government policy.
The association also rolled out a three‑phase roadmap to put the alliance into action. Phase 1 (Foundation) focuses on launching the alliance, completing a survey of AI adoption across subsectors, and designing core talent‑development programs. Phase 2 (Demonstration & Scale) will showcase AI use cases from digital leaders and expand real‑world applications through collaborations between fashion and AI companies. Phase 3 (Institutionalize & Industrialize) will convert demonstration results into industry standards and guidelines and coordinate with government to institutionalize Fashion AI.
Moving forward, the association plans to use the alliance as a hub for corporate collaboration projects, Fashion AI training programs and scaled industry demonstrations. It intends to strengthen its role as the focal point of public‑private cooperation to drive AI adoption and diffusion across the fashion field.
Seong Rae‑eun, president of the Korea Fashion Association, said, "We expect the AI Alliance to establish itself as a cross‑industry collaboration platform and serve as the foundation for boosting Korean fashion's global competitiveness."
