[Anchor] Today (May 5) is a day for children. Across the country, events are marking Children’s Day, and in Paju a special celebration lets kids enjoy books in new ways. We’ll connect live to our reporter on site, Hyunji Ham. [Field reporter] I’m standing in Paju Publishing City, where the 24th Paju Children’s Book Festival is underway. Families out for Children’s Day have filled the area, and laughter now drowns out the usual rustle of pages. The festival, which opened on May 2, culminates today. Under the playful theme, “Books, appear! Snacks, appear!” the event goes beyond reading: children meet authors and get hands‑on chances to explore different careers. The most popular spot is the Book Market. 47 publishers are on hand to explain how books are made, and kids can become little authors, crafting their own stories. An Open House offers a rare look inside publishers usually closed to the public. On the performance stage, puppet shows and other programs designed to spark children’s imaginations run throughout the day. Food trucks and activity booths give families places to gather and make lasting Children’s Day memories. If you want to give a child a sense of the wide world a single book can open, consider joining the festival in Paju. This is Hyunji Ham reporting from Paju Publishing City for Yonhap News TV.
