[Herald Business=Kang Seung-yeon] Hansome, the fashion arm of Hyundai Department Store Group, said on March 10 that its flagship store, The Hansome House Seoul(photo), surpassed its sales target—hitting 120%—within 30 days of opening.

The Hansome House Seoul covers 1,927 m² (about 20,745 sq ft, approximately 582 pyeong) and opened last February in Daechi-dong, Gangnam District. Women in their 40s and 50s accounted for 75% of sales—16 percentage points higher than Hansome’s overall average—and more than 30% of visitors came with their children.

Executives say choosing Daechi-dong over Seongsu or Apgujeong, and dedicating half the space to specialized zones, paid off. The fourth-floor brunch spot, Cafe Time, is busy from the moment it opens, and its limited desserts sell out within two hours. The sixth-floor beauty spa, Oera La Maison, is booked solid for a month. Teen-focused merchandise and pop-ups from sports labels such as Arc'teryx, Hoka, and Brooks Running are also drawing big crowds.

The exterior, designed by architect Cho Min-seok, is being touted as a new Daechi-dong landmark. Its stacked-block silhouette and curved glass-and-light facade make it stand out amid the neighborhood’s dense row of cram schools.

Hansome will open a pop-up for global streetwear brand Aape next month. On the fifth floor, the multi-purpose cultural space H Room will host a painting exhibition by artist Park Jin-woo, and Cafe Time will roll out seasonal desserts.

“By dedicating half the retail space to specialized areas, we’re communicating the lifestyle and philosophy Hansome pursues,” a Hansome spokesperson said. “We will continue to offer differentiated customer experiences.”
