On May 5, Children’s Day, Cheongsong County will host the 36th Cheongsong County Children’s Day Grand Festival at the Cheongsong Ajit complex. The event is organized by the Cheongsong Junior Chamber and sponsored by the Cheongsong Office of Education, the Cheongsong pumped-storage power plant, and the Cheongsong branch of the Korea Water Resources Corporation. Organizers expect roughly 1,200 children, families and local residents to attend.

The festival will open with a prelude by the Dream Orchestra “Cheongsong.” A commemorative ceremony will follow, featuring a reading of the Children’s Charter and a communal performance of the Children’s Day song to underscore the day’s meaning. After the ceremony, the outdoor stage at Cheongsong Ajit will host a participatory talent show called “I’m a Superstar A.”

This year’s program expands the slate of performances and hands-on activities. Sand art and magic shows will share the bill with youth dance teams, taekwondo demonstrations, K-pop little-dance routines and a b-boy set by the Phoenix Crew, keeping entertainment rolling through the afternoon. Activity booths will offer kid-friendly projects such as LED keycap making, pen decorating, slime crafting and gacha prize draws.

Inflatable play areas and a four-shot photo booth will be set up around the grounds to appeal to families. Food stalls will serve snacks like bungeoppang (fish-shaped pastry), hot dogs and slushies, and a raffle will offer a range of prizes.

A Cheongsong County official called the festival “a meaningful event prepared for children through the cooperation of multiple organizations” and urged the public to join, saying, “We hope many people will come so children can run freely and make lasting memories.”
