Amid rising military tensions in the Middle East, South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs brought together heads of mission from key countries to discuss responses to potential supply-chain disruptions.
Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Jin-a, who chaired the meeting, said it is critical to monitor regional supply-chain disruptions in real time. She urged each mission to closely track resource exports, imports and logistics trends in their host countries.
Heads of mission shared assessments of the supply-and-demand situation for critical items within their host countries and discussed measures each post can take to minimize procurement interruptions.
The ministry said officials held in-depth discussions on securing alternative supply lines for at-risk items and on coordinating closely with host-country governments.
It added that it will continue to operate the missions' early-warning system and work closely with relevant ministries and private companies to minimize impacts on South Korea's economy and businesses.
