At about 4:03 p.m. on the 6th, officials received a report that an elementary school girl identified only by the initial A, who was playing at a playground in Buk-gu, Daegu, had been hit by an object thought to be a warhead and sustained an injury below the neck.
She was treated at a civilian hospital, where doctors removed the object embedded in her body. She was discharged and is not in life-threatening condition, officials said.
Military officials said small-arms live-fire training was conducted at a nearby unit firing range.
The military firing range is about 1.4 km from the playground.
Authorities said they are working to determine whether the object is an actual warhead and are closely investigating any possible link to the live-fire training.
