When the pale dough feeds into the machine, curly strands of noodles emerge.

The line cuts the noodles into rounds and fries them into the familiar shape.

It’s the production line for ramen, a small comfort for troops in service.

The manufacturer supplies these noodles to the military only after they pass advanced safety inspections.

「Kim Sang-hoon / Plant Manager, 'N' Food Company, Gumi」 Every step of production is systematized. Recently, we’ve reinforced inspection capabilities with AI to ensure consistently safe products.

South Korea’s Public Procurement Service toured the plant that supplies the military and conducted a comprehensive inspection of the entire production process.

Inspectors reviewed staff hygiene practices, facility sanitation, and manufacturing and packaging procedures in detail.

Since July 2020, the Public Procurement Service has assumed responsibility for general military procurement from the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and now manages those acquisitions.

Because food safety is critical, the agency carries out these on-site checks regularly.

「Kang Seong-min / Deputy Administrator, Public Procurement Service」 To reliably supply food that service members can trust, hygiene and quality control at production sites must come first.

We will approach procurement as if our own children were eating the food, continuously identifying hazards from raw materials through production to build a safe, clean military food supply system.

The Public Procurement Service is also diversifying military supplies based on troops’ preferences.

The agency plans to expand provisions beyond snacks like ice cream to include footwear, clothing and personal care items.
