President Lee Jae-myung hailed the evacuation of South Koreans who had been stranded in the Middle East amid clashes involving the United States, Israel and Iran as a meaningful example of whole-of-government cooperation.

On March 15, he wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Good news. 204 of our citizens who had been isolated by recent tensions in the Middle East have safely returned aboard military transport planes."

Lee said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Air Force, along with South Korean embassies in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Lebanon, and the National Police Agency — which joined the government's joint rapid response team — all worked together. He thanked the personnel who worked around the clock in difficult conditions to ensure the operation’s success.
