The Naval Education Command said it held the enlistment ceremony for Navy Class 724 on the afternoon of the 20th at the Recruit Training Battalion drill field.

Colonel Park Kwang-min, the cadet commander, presided over the event, which drew about 1,100 enlistees and roughly 3,300 family members who came to see them off.

The ceremony followed this sequence: opening honors; a welcome from the recruit battalion commander; a briefing on the training program and introduction of instructors; words of encouragement from parents; the recruits’ oath; deep bows to parents; and salutes to parents.

Colonel Park said, “Through systematic basic military training, we will make every effort to develop tough, elite sailors.”

On the same day, the Gyeongnam Military Manpower Administration staged an enlistment cultural festival — an experiential program designed to create memories for families and enlistees.

The unit also presented a variety of attractions, including a family rest area, uniform displays, a photo zone and recruiting booths, offering attending families and guests additional activities.

Following the ceremony, Class 724 recruits will undergo a five-week training program at the Naval Education Command’s Recruit Training Battalion and are scheduled to graduate on May 22.

They will complete practical training in physical conditioning, combat marches, field training, small inflatable-boat (IBS) operations and combat swimming to prepare them as elite sailors.
