On the 10th at about 2:00 p.m., Lee appeared at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul and was questioned as a suspect on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act and failing to render aid after an accident.
After roughly four hours of questioning, Lee said, \"I am truly sorry for causing concern with my actions. I told the police the truth during their investigation.\"
When reporters asked why he continued driving after striking a guardrail, Lee replied that he didn't realize what had happened. Asked why he drove while intoxicated despite a prior offense, he lowered his head and said, \"I was wrong.\"
That same day, MBN reported that police had gathered evidence suggesting Lee moved between several drinking gatherings. Authorities are focusing on back-calculating his blood-alcohol concentration at the time of the crash using the Widmark formula.
Officials say he denied allegations that he drank more after fleeing the scene to alter his alcohol reading — a tactic sometimes referred to as \"sultagi\" (drinking afterward to affect test results).
Earlier, on the night of the 6th at about 11:00 p.m., Lee struck a center divider near Cheongdam Station on Seoul Subway Line 7 and left the scene. Police located him roughly three hours later at an acquaintance's home. At the time, his blood-alcohol concentration registered at a level that would trigger a license suspension. Lee initially denied drinking but the next day, through his attorney, admitted he had consumed four shots of soju and then driven under the influence.
