[Sports Seoul | Reporter Ham Sang-beom] CORTIS made a strong impression with fresh rookie energy and tight live performances.

CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Seonghyun, Gunho) appeared on MBC FM4U's "Noon's Hope Song with Kim Shin-young" on May 5 to introduce GREENGREEN, the mini-album they released the day before.

On their first radio appearance since the comeback, the members said, "We framed the things we avoid as 'RED' and what we've done and hope to do as 'GREEN.' The album includes songs that reflect our daily lives, and we worked imagining the stage." When DJ Kim Shin-young noted the album became a million-seller on its first day, the members replied, "We just heard that — we're honored and grateful," and couldn't hide their excitement.

The group said they released the title track "REDRED" ahead of the album because they were confident in the song. "We made the beat first, and the 'RED' concept followed," they said. "We revised the melody about 300 times." Using the song's message — likening what they avoid to 'RED' — they opened up about everyday concerns and personal stories.

They also recalled performing in March at a celebratory luncheon for the athletes of the 25th Milano Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics held at the Blue House. Gold medalists Choi Ga-on and Kim Gilli publicly said they were fans of CORTIS, drawing attention. "We appreciated that the athletes told us they listen to our music while training. Everyone really seemed to enjoy it," the members said.

CORTIS performed "REDRED" live on "Noon's Hope Song with Kim Shin-young." Standing at vintage microphones, they rode the rhythm and seemed to relish the performance; listeners flooded the show with praise for their polished vocals.

Meanwhile, CORTIS released GREENGREEN on May 4 and are actively promoting it. They will appear on KBS Cool FM's "Lee Eun-ji's Gayo Plaza" on May 6 and SBS Power FM's "Wendy's Youngstreet" on May 7. They will also appear on web variety shows, including KBS Kpop's "Limousine Service" and Studio Rulalala's Workman channel segment "Workdol." Catch their stages on KBS2's "Music Bank" on May 8, MBC's "Show! Music Core" on May 9, and SBS's "Inkigayo" on May 10.

According to Hanteo Chart, GREENGREEN sold 1,196,961 copies on its first day, qualifying it as a million-seller. That figure nearly triples the first-week sales of their previous mini-album, which recorded 436,367 copies in its opening week. intellybeast@sportsseoul.com
