[EPN Enpinow reporter Go Nari] Young-ja Lee spoke candidly about a personal experience lending money to close acquaintances.
On the April 20 episode of tvN STORY's variety series What's the Point of Leaving It?, Young-ja Lee addressed her financial worries and observed, \"In modern life, the hardest thing is knowing how to say no.\"
She recalled wanting to help someone financially but not having the means, so she took out a loan to lend the money. She later had to tell the person she couldn't continue to support them and said the embarrassment she felt at that moment was profound.
Se-ri Park said she empathized with Lee and generally finds it difficult to refuse requests. She added that financial dealings get more complicated the closer you are to someone, and in certain situations she sets a firm boundary from the outset.
Attorney So-young Yang told the show she is prepared to lend about 2 million KRW (approximately $1,500) with the expectation she might not be repaid, and that she typically avoids personal financial transactions. She also said she always draws up a written loan agreement when helping her children and acknowledged that such caution can narrow her social circle.
Geum-hee Lee concluded, \"Anyone can face a hard moment, and it's never easy to turn away when someone close is struggling,\" a sentiment that clearly resonated with viewers.
