Taean County in South Chungcheong Province is rolling out a week-long stay program to spark tourism and breathe new life into the local economy.
On March 13, the county announced it will accept applications from adults aged 19 or older who live outside Chungcheongnam‑do for the \"Live in Taean for a Week\" program. Applications are open from March 16 through April 8.
Designed to promote long-stay tourism and highlight Taean’s attractions, the program will select roughly 25 teams to participate.
Selected teams will stay for six nights and seven days between April 20 and May 31. During their stay they’ll complete required and optional tourism missions, visit local attractions and take part in experience programs, then share travel reviews and content online, including on social media.
To ease the financial burden, the county will reimburse several costs: ₩50,000 (~$37.50) per day for lodging; ₩20,000 (~$15.00) per day for meals and transportation; ₩100,000 (~$75.00) per person for activity fees; and ₩20,000 (~$15.00) for travel insurance.

Under the reimbursement system, a solo participant can receive up to ₩560,000 (~$420.00), while a two-person team can receive up to ₩680,000 (~$510.00), making it easier to explore Taean’s highlights without breaking the bank.
Travel across the whole of Chungcheongnam‑do is allowed, but to qualify for reimbursement at least 50% of total expenses must be paid within Taean County. Officials say that requirement will help support local businesses.
“We prepared this long-stay tourism support program so visitors can leisurely experience Taean’s beautiful nature and culture,” said a county official. “We expect it will help showcase Taean’s charms as a tourism city.”
