Naju City, in South Jeolla Province, South Korea, is rolling out a hands-on perk for overnight visitors: a curated bundle of local food products.

On April 30 the city said that, starting May 1, guests who use the "Naju 1 Night, 2 Gains" lodging discount program will receive a "Naju Matnam Kit" filled with locally processed foods. The move is meant to connect tourism with local spending as the city ramps up for Visit Naju Year 2026.

Ten local food makers chipped in to assemble the kit. It features items like ramen, pear juice, gim (seaweed), snacks, single-serve coffee sticks, granola, and more — and the city prepared 2,000 sets in total.

Each kit also includes QR codes that link to the vendors' online shops, a simple way to turn an on-site taste into a follow-up purchase.

The perk is available only to participants in the "1 Night, 2 Gains" lodging discount program. By tying the giveaway to an overnight stay, the city hopes to encourage visitors to linger and spend more time exploring the area.

A Naju City official said, "We designed the kit so tourists can experience local foods firsthand. Through stronger ties with local businesses, we expect it will boost visitor satisfaction and increase spending."
