Sea World High-Speed Ferry announced on April 24 that its new car ferry, the Queen Mary, will make its maiden voyage from Mokpo in South Jeolla Province on the 30th. The ship will operate the Mokpo–Jeju route.
Scheduled departures are 2:00 p.m. from Mokpo and 7:00 a.m. from Jeju.
Built in South Korea, the Queen Mary measures 143 m (469 ft) long, 22 m (72.2 ft) wide, and 13.8 m (45.3 ft) deep, with a gross tonnage of 14,919 t (about 16,444 short tons). It can carry up to 756 passengers and around 270 standard passenger cars. The company plans to expand service to include routes such as Jindo–Jeju (Aewol).
For domestic travelers, it’s a win-win: explore Mokpo—a port city celebrated for its food scene and cultural charm—and then hop a high-speed ferry straight to Jeju.
