Gyeongin Women's University is teaming up with international students to jump-start tourism across Incheon's island districts and give the local economy and culture a welcome boost.
The initiative is part of an effort to expand an ESG-focused community partnership model by using global promotion to connect the university with the surrounding region.
On May 11, the university's RISE team held a launch ceremony for the "Incheon Treasure Island 168 Foreign Student Supporters," presenting appointment certificates to 10 international students from Vietnam, Myanmar, and Mongolia.
Chosen through recommendations from the Office of International Affairs and relevant academic departments, these students will spend the next six months visiting Deokjeokdo and Soya-do to create tourism content—covering travel routes and transit details, local food, attractions, and residents' stories—in multiple languages.
They will share their firsthand experiences with global audiences across social media.
The university expects these international perspectives to give promotional content a fresh, more compelling spin than traditional tourism campaigns.
A RISE team official said, "Creative content produced by students from diverse cultural backgrounds will help raise global awareness of island tourism in Incheon. We will continue to expand international cooperation programs linked to the local community."
