[EPN Enpinow reporter Go Nari] Singer-songwriter and Traffic co-founder Dave Mason has died.

People magazine reported April 22 (local time) that Mason died April 19 at his home in Gardnerville, Nev. He was 79.

A family spokesperson said, "With deep sorrow, we announce Mason's passing. As an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he devoted his life to music, creativity and his family."

The family added that he loved music and stayed close to his family until the end.

Despite ongoing health issues, Mason continued working in music for many years. After contracting an infectious illness in March, he postponed tours scheduled for 2024 and 2025.

He helped found the band Traffic, left after its debut album, and rejoined in 1971 and again in 2004. In 2004 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Traffic.

Mason also broadened his musical reach through collaborations with the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and George Harrison, among others.

He wrote "Only You Know and I Know" and cemented his reputation as a singer‑songwriter with the 1977 solo hit "We Just Disagree."
