Maya, who debuted in 2003 with "Azalea," built her reputation with hits such as "Coolly," "Proud and Dignified," and "I Cry Out." With this release, she breaks her long silence and steps back into the public eye.
The new single, "Feels Like Flowers," captures modern life with candid humor. Lyrics like "A sip of coffee feels like today's comfort" and "Payday makes life briefly sweet, but the feeling vanishes the moment the bank alert pops up" reflect the lived emotions of office workers trapped in routine. The line "I'm still scraping by" in particular resonates with many professionals juggling daily financial pressures.
Through a breezy, wry refrain — "Feels like flowers — just laugh, or you'll lose your mind" — the song offers a plainspoken kind of consolation, encouraging listeners to hold on with a smile even when things are tough.
Maya wrote and composed the track herself, and veteran arranger Ha Gwang-hoon — a prominent figure in Korea's pop music scene — provided the arrangement, sharpening the single's production. Maya plans to release one new song each month, with the year’s releases compiled into a 12-track full-length album at year-end.
After 13 years away, industry observers and fans are eager to see what new musical shades Maya will reveal through this serialized project.
