Kim Sook-jin, director of Kims Orchestra, will present \"Kim Sook-jin's Story Concert with Youth\" on June 14 at Aram Music Hall in Goyang Aram Nuri, Ilsandong-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The program will pair Kims Orchestra with the Little Angels Choir, one of South Korea's leading children's choruses. Kim planned and will host this narrated classical concert.
A graduate of Seoul National University's College of Music, Kim has long delivered warm musical experiences on stage and in the classroom. She has presented a range of programs, including her signature \"Kim Sook-jin's Story Concert.\" Her \"Kim Sook-jin Healing Concert,\" which toured national parks across the country, earned her the nickname \"healing evangelist.\" Her essay published last year, Music Flows Deep in the Heart, offers a lively, heartfelt account of the restorative power she has found in performance and drew strong reader response.
Recently, Kim formed the 45-member Kims Orchestra, assembled around the concertmasters and principal players of the KBS Symphony Orchestra. Rooted in classical music, the ensemble also explores popera, tango, K-pop and other genres, presenting repertory that feels familiar to broader audiences. Reviewers have praised the group's tight ensemble playing and its fluid crossover programming, saying it strikes a satisfying balance between classical depth and popular appeal.
Kim will conduct the concert's opening piece herself. For the remainder of the program, leading Korean conductor Choi Young-seon will take the podium; Choi is well known for his longtime collaborations with soprano Sumi Jo. General director An Seong-gyun will oversee the production, adding to the show's polish.
Alongside Kims Orchestra and the Little Angels Choir, the lineup includes vocalists Ban Sun-kyung, Yoon Yeo-hoon, Han Ah-reum, Ji Jun-hyuk and Choi Jin-hyung. The program will also feature the internationally known tango duo Pelin & Miguel Calvo and the popera group Cardio, offering a varied evening of opera, tango and popera.
